Last season was a tough year for the Vanderbilt baseball team.
Trying to follow up back-to-back College World Series championship game appearances was a tall task but the death of pitcher Donny Everett impacted the team like no other. Everett, 19, drowned in Normandy Lake in Coffee County this past June.
On Saturday, the Commodores football program honored the pitcher by having his parents, Susan and Teddy, present the anchor on the field and recognize the Donny Everett Scholarship. The team also donned Everett’s #41 on the back of their ‘Deep Water’ helmets.
Head baseball coach Tim Corbin took time to write a letter to the football program thanking them.
