The Vanderbilt’s men’s golf team’s postseason begins on Monday morning in the Kissimmee, Fla. Regional at the Reunion Resort with 13 other teams in their quest for a bid to the NCAA Championship May 25-30 in Stillwater, Okla. The top five teams and the top individual not associated with those five teams will advance after 54 holes of stroke play.
The number one-seed Commodores will compete with #2 Florida, #3 North Carolina, #4 South Florida, #5 Kent State, #6 Arizona, #7 Purdue, #8 Colorado State, #9 Saint Mary’s (Ca.), #10 UCF, #11 Coastal Carolina, #12 Jacksonville State, #13 Georgetown, and #14 Central Connecticut State. Individuals include Steven Fisk of Georgia Southern, R.J. Keur of UAB, Yannick Schutz of South Alabama, Billy Tom Sargent of Western Kentucky, and Saptak Talwar of Sacred Heart.
“We have had a nice week or so of practice and the boys seem very excited for this next opportunity,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh, who is making his sixth consecutive trip to NCAA Regional play since his arrival at Vanderbilt in the 2012-13 season. “This time of the year, it is very important that we are able to stay focused on what’s in front of us and not what is going on around us. We need to be a team that believes in one another, takes ownership, and brings positive attitudes and energy each day. I am really excited for the week and watching this group compete for each other.”
Vanderbilt will send SEC Player of the Year and First-Team All-SEC selection Theo Humphrey, First-Team All-SEC member Will Gordon, Second-Team All-SEC selections John Augenstein and Patrick Martin, and redshirt freshman Mason Greenberg to compete this week. Harrison Ott will also travel with the team and serve as an alternate.
The Commodores will tee off at 6:30 CT off of the first tee at the Watson Course with number-two seed Florida and number-three seed North Carolina.
