Nashville — Vanderbilt will face Notre Dame early in the 2018 season, the schools announced today.
The Commodores and Fighting Irish will play Sept. 15 in South Bend, Ind., at Notre Dame Stadium.
The 2018 matchup will mark the third game all-time between the schools — and first since a narrow 14-7 Irish win in Nashville on Sept. 5, 1996. The only previous game between the schools played in South Bend resulted in an Irish win on Sept. 16, 1995.
The Commodores are coming off a 6-6 regular season and an appearance in the Camping World Independence Bowl. Notre Dame finished 4-8 in 2016.
The Commodores host a seven-game home schedule in 2017, featuring games in Vanderbilt Stadium against Alabama A&M (Sept. 9), Kansas State (Sept. 16), Alabama (Sept. 23), Georgia (Oct. 7), Western Kentucky (Nov. 4), Kentucky (Nov. 11) and Missouri (Nov. 18).
Season tickets are available for the 2017 season, starting at $178 (fees included) for end-zone locations to $308 for premium sideline seats. Season tickets can be purchased at vucommodores.com, by phone at (615) 322-GOLD or in person at the Vanderbilt Athletic Ticket Office in McGugin Center, 2601 Jess Neely Drive, Nashville.
